SCHOOL DINNERS

Today we visit Scotland, to find out what a Scottish schoolgirl thinks of her school meals. And because the European Cup Football matches have reached an interesting stage, and poor old England have been knocked out by Italy, this might be a good time to learn a new football expression.

This is a site with plenty of reading texts. At the bottom of the page you can move on to the next one by clicking on page 2 or 3. The activities are grouped by the type of exercise you have to deal with.

Reading for Intermediate 2

LISTENING FOR CERTIFICATION - INTERMEDIATE 2

These two sets of activities are thought to help you improve your listening skill. The first link will take you to a bunch of activities for an intermediate level whereas the second link is aimed to those of you who look for more demanding tasks. You could start with the first and then try the second. Who knows? You might get really surprised to know how good you have become in listening.

Upper Intermediate Listening

All the activities are supported by their transcriptions so, after listening twice, you could check out whether you have understood or not by having a look at the dialogues. You can also download the files to your MP 3/4 or any other gadget.

LISTENING FOR CERTIFICATION - BASIC 2

On the following page, you will find 9 listening exercises with their transcription, in case you find it difficult to understand. If you click on the topic, you will be taken to the exercise and the audio. The audio can be downloaded as mp 3 file to use it every time you need.

LISTENING TO A SPEECH - INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED

Randy Pausch was an American professor who sadly passed away (died) in 2008. He was an extremely inspirational person, and through this video I hope it will remind you of what is important in life. Listen to the interview and try to fill in the gaps in the sentences.
Note: in English, 'the reaper' is another word for 'death'

THE POWER OF SMILING - LISTENING - INTERMEDIATE 2 AND ADVANCED

This is a lesson that will help you live longer, be more successful and feel as if you have eaten lots of chocolate without the calories! Listen to the lecture and see if you can answer the questions below true or false. I recommend you to listen at least twice and carefully, as the man giving the talk speaks quite quickly.

MUSIC - ALL LEVELS

Whitney Houston - I know him so well
Taylor Swift - Breathe
Wicked - For Good
Cold Play - Fix you
The script - If you ever come back
Corinne Baiyle Rae - Put your records on

Beautiful tunes, indeed, to help you chill out.
